■ New Book Release: Mental Health Communication for Underserved Populations D. K. David Kim. ( do.kim@louisiana.edu ) I’m thrilled to announce the release of the new edited volume Mental Health Communication for Underserved Populations, published by Bloomsbury. At a time when global crises, social inequities, and rapid technological change continue to heighten mental health challenges, effective health communication has never been more vital. Mental health communication helps shape understanding, reduce stigma, and foster access to care, especially among populations too often overlooked in research and practice. This book brings together leading scholars in mental health communication studies to explore how we can better support these populations and communities through meaningful, culturally responsive, and evidence-based communication approaches, while introducing innovative mental health communication strategies. Across 14 chapters, contributors explained the unique needs and contexts of 14 distinct underserved populations, including low-income communities, veterans, immigrants, refugees, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ populations, and many others. By integrating diverse perspectives and case studies, this book seeks to advance equity and inclusion in mental health discourse, introducing more empathetic and effective communication strategies across a range of contexts.
